Day 2: Kratie – Mekong Dolphins – Kampong Thom

Day 1: Phnom Penh – Kampong Cham – Kratie

Early morning at 7 am, our guide and driver pick you up from your hotel in Phnom Penh and drive heading out to Kampong Cham Province. First, stop at Skuon for the restroom and visit the spider market. Continue to drive to Kampong Cham City where we will stop for a coffee break, and take a quick walk through the main local market of Kampong Cham (Kampong Cham is the third biggest province in Cambodia). Lunch at the local restaurant
After lunch, we continue to drive to Kratie – on arrival, take the local ferry to cross the Mekong River to Koh Trong (Mekong Island) where we will have dinner and overnight in the Khmer Traditional Stilted House with a local family. If we arrive at the island early, then our guide will arrange the local bicycle or motorbike taxi to ride you around the village on the island before dark (if not, we will do it early morning on the next day).

Day 2: Kratie – Mekong Dolphins – Kampong Thom

After breakfast, we say goodbye to the local family and take the ferry back to the mainland of Kratie to drive to Prek Kampi to see the dolphins. Enjoy the traditional wooden boat ride for 45-60 minutes to spot the Fresh Water Dolphins in the Mekong River (Irrawaddy Dolphins). Return to Kratie for lunch, and continue to drive to Kampong Thom. On the way, we will take a few stops to visit the local working activities on their farms such as rubber plantations, tobacco plantations, and rice fields, and have a chance to taste different local snacks and fruits before we reach Kampong Thom City.

Day 3: Kampong Thom – Sambo Prei Kuk – Naga Bride – Siem Reap

Early morning, our guide will take you on to walk through the Kampong Thom Market, you will witness the local trading activities of selling fresh vegetables, fish, meats, and all other stuff. Return to the hotel for breakfast, then we drive to visit Sambor Prei Kuk temples, Sambor Prei Kuk is Cambodia’s oldest temple site dating back to the 6th century. The site remains remarkably well preserved. Continue to walk along quiet, shady trails from one temple group to another. Enjoy the organic lunch at the local restaurant nearby the temple, then proceed to Siem Reap. Take one more stop to visit the Ancient Bride that was made in the 12th century (Naga Bride) in Kampong Kdie before reaching Siem Reap. Arrive in Siem Reap around 5 pm – Drop off in the city – End of services.
