Our guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the bike shop, where the guide will take about 20-30 minutes for a tour briefing and bike fitting. We will then ride our bikes along backroads through beautiful villages, observing the daily activities of villagers as they work in the fields and at home. We’ll stop to visit a family making Kralan, a delicious sticky rice dish cooked in bamboo containers, and explore a local market. Next, we’ll head to West Baray, an 11th-century reservoir measuring 8 km long and 2.8 km wide, which provides great photo opportunities and insights into ancient history and the modern agricultural irrigation system of Cambodia. Continuing our ride, we’ll make additional stops to discover interesting sights along the way until we reach the boat pier on Tonle Sap Lake. There, we’ll embark on a local boat to visit the floating village, where you can learn about the unique lifestyle of people living in floating houses and enjoy a delicious homemade lunch in one of the floating homes. After lunch, we’ll go kayaking on Tonle Sap Lake; depending on the season, we may kayak in both the mangrove forest and the open lake if water levels are high, or just the open lake if levels are low. This boat ride and kayaking experience will provide you with in-depth knowledge of the natural lake and the exotic daily life of the village. Afterward, we’ll return to the boat pier and ride our bikes back to your hotel in Siem Reap.
Kris M2023-03-09 This is the way to experience Cambodia! Merry Travel/ Sam is an excellent tour guide and the tour is perfectly curated . You get to experience Cambodia authentically and at the ground level- the awesome ancient temples, the horrifying but important political history and the resilient, friendly people and their present day life/livelihoods. I cannot recommend Merry Travel and Sam enough! Our trip was a 10 out of 10! Trek7907062023-03-05 Just the right level of support Sam seems to intuitively know when to explain and when to let us discover things for ourselves. The discovery of Angkor Wat--truly one of the great treasures of humanity--unfolded flawlessly in this way: unhurried, flowing, and awe-inspiring. Thanks to Sam and the Merry Travel team for an unforgettable experience! NETraveler2023-03-04 Highly Recommend Merry Travel The tour guides at Merry Travel are very knowledgeable and fun to travel with. I have taken 5 groups of students and 2 groups of adults. In addition, I have recommended at least 3 other friends to work with him. If you want professionalism and fairness, Sam is the person for you. Merry Travel is an outstanding business and I cannot applaud it enough. We did 3 days of cycling in Angkor Wat, then went to Phnom Penh and then Kampot. Sam worked out all the transfers and we had excellent guides, including Sam himself. He knows what it takes to make the customer happy and he is very even-keeled in his approach.
