Day 1: Siem Reap – Phnom Kulen
At 8:30 AM you will be picked up for a transfer to Kulen National Park. We will have a fairly easy time of making it through the jungle to the famous Kulen waterfall. While we’re there, we’ll visit the 1000 Lingas River and swim in the basin of the waterfall. The trek will continue further along flat paths to Wat Preah Kral, which will be our campsite for the evening. On the way there, we’ll stop by a pagoda that houses an enormous Reclining Buddha. During the evening, we’ll enjoy the picturesque sunset from large granite boulders with cool refreshments. We’ll be joined by a monk from the ancient pagoda who will tell us about the area, Buddhism, and his day-to-day life. We’ll have dinner at the campsite.
Trekking: 12km
Meals included: Lunch, dinner
Accommodation: Kulen Hill, camping (tent)
Day 2: Phnom Kulen – Siem Reap
Waking up to a chorus of tropical birds, we’ll get up early to take advantage of the most picturesque part of our day. We’ll have breakfast at the camp site and we’ll continue our trek for 4 to 5 hours through the rain forest, stopping over in a bat cave and at Srah Damrey (Elephants’ Pond). We’ll trek back to the village in the early afternoon and then we’ll be transferred by van to the nearby waterfalls. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Towards 15:00, we will return to the hotel by van.
Trekking: 12km
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch
Kris M2023-03-09 This is the way to experience Cambodia! Merry Travel/ Sam is an excellent tour guide and the tour is perfectly curated . You get to experience Cambodia authentically and at the ground level- the awesome ancient temples, the horrifying but important political history and the resilient, friendly people and their present day life/livelihoods. I cannot recommend Merry Travel and Sam enough! Our trip was a 10 out of 10! Trek7907062023-03-05 Just the right level of support Sam seems to intuitively know when to explain and when to let us discover things for ourselves. The discovery of Angkor Wat--truly one of the great treasures of humanity--unfolded flawlessly in this way: unhurried, flowing, and awe-inspiring. Thanks to Sam and the Merry Travel team for an unforgettable experience! NETraveler2023-03-04 Highly Recommend Merry Travel The tour guides at Merry Travel are very knowledgeable and fun to travel with. I highly recommend Merry Travel for your Cambodia adventures. mark s2023-03-04 Biking Cambodia This is the 7th time I have done a tour with Sam. I have taken 5 groups of students and 2 groups of adults. In addition, I have recommended at least 3 other friends to work with him. If you want professionalism and fairness, Sam is the person for you. Merry Travel is an outstanding business and I cannot applaud it enough. We did 3 days of cycling in Angkor Wat, then went to Phnom Penh and then Kampot. Sam worked out all the transfers and we had excellent guides, including Sam himself. He knows what it takes to make the customer happy and he is very even-keeled in his approach.
