The capital city of Phnom Penh was once considered the loveliest city of Indochina. Despite its recent turbulent history, it still maintains considerable charm. A city tour acquaints us with some major sights of Phnom Penh. Visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and then the National Museum, which is dedicated exclusively to Khmer art and sculpture. The majority of the exhibits are from the Angkor period from 9th to 15th century, but some date from as early as the 4th century. The private quarters of the Royal Palace are now home to the royal family and are therefore very close to the public. At the northern area of the palace grounds is Silver Pagoda, the most sacred temple in the country.

The peaceful stretch of green fields of Cheung Ek may not indicate what kinds of horrors have taken place there. Situated 17km from Phnom Penh town, Cheung Ek was made famous by the movie “The Killing Fields”. Nowadays, a large memorial has been built to commemorate the 17,000 victims who died here under the reign of Khmer Rouge leader, Pol Pot. The remnants inside the memorial and the mass graves that dot the area remind you of the suffering of the victims. This journey into Cambodia’s past will provide you with a background on the cruelty of the Khmer Rouge regime. It will also give you an appreciation of the struggle that Cambodian people have faced and their tremendous courage to move on and rebuild their nation. Continue to visit the Russian market and end the trip with a visit of the Wat Phnom Temple, Phnom Penh’s namesake, from where you can enjoy views over the tree-lined avenues of Phnom Penh.
Enjoy a leisurely cruise with a private catered dinner by our well-known chef, the course is mainly to do with grilling and BBQ along with free flow of drinks (local beers, soft drinks, soda and a bottle of wine) while enjoying the sunset goes down taking in the sights along the river bank including many local Cambodian families and friends socialize. You’ll earn a rare, but great opportunity to see the floating villagers and fishermen’s activities. Cruise back to the port and transfer back to your hotel.

Visit Koh Dach, an island in the Mekong located only short transfer away from the hurly-burley of Phnom Penh. Opt to cycle around the island which is home to luscious trees and fruit plantations. As you cycle, observe the daily activities of the local community. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the midst of wonderful scenery and connect more closely with rural Cambodian life. Continue cycling through villages and answer the many warm greetings from local children. Tea, fresh fruit and refreshments are served at a local traditional wooden house. The house owner has lived with his family on this island for over 40 years and is eager to share his life stories with you. He has devoted his life to the children of the island and is now director of the local school. Visit the local school and learn more about the education standards in Cambodia. Meet some of the local children (if your visit is on a weekday) and learn more about their ambitions in life. If silk is your interest, here is a home to a silk weaving, where you can see how the whole silk production process works from beginning to end, from mulberry-chomping silk worms in golden cocoons through to the complex manual loom weaving process. Return to Phnom Penh by your vehicle and back to your hotel. (Maximum of flexibly 10 km cycling).

Cambodia is an amazing land to see by bike!!!Thank you for the good carePosted on MB100BxllsVerified Amazing self-guided bike tour in Cambodia! Just completed an amazing self-guided bespoke ebike tour with Merry Travel/Cambodia bikes. We are both 60 plus regular cyclists who normally travel ourselves, however with little planning time and this being our first visit to the region sought local guidance. So glad we did. The planning, which was initially done through Mr Biker Saigon, as we were doing similar tours in Vietnam, was seamless and provided for a more interesting tour than had we planned it ourselves. We provided a rough 'request list' and timings and they proposed routes incorporating several additional activities including trekking, kayaking and dolphin watching. Routes were provided on Bike with GPS and also a list of accommodation. All of which were in interesting places and local commmunity orientated, which we liked. The routes, which were generally on quiet and always interesting side roads and often gravel tracks - took us through amazing countryside, small villages and finally on a beautiful journey following the Mekong into Phnom Penh. We also had a vehicle which loosely followed us and our driver Makara - himself a cyclist - supported us with everything from transfers, bike maintenance when needed and interpretation. He also found us some nice coffee and food stops!! Overall a fantastic adventure. We loved the space and adventure afforded by self-guiding, but with the excellent backup support provided by Sam at Merry Travel and Makara throughout the journey. Thank-you!Posted on Joanne GVerified Best bike trip ever in Vietnam and Cambodia !!! we had a wonderful trip with Cambodia cycling tour ; Southern Vietnam and then to Siem Reap . A group of friends spent 10 days with Merry travel cycling in Vietnam and Cambodia. It was the best trip I have ever had. We cycled thru neighborhoods in the Mekong delta. Our guide expertly provided insight and info. He was a perfect cycling guide adding a rich cultural experience as well as great biking.Posted on TrevVerified 5 stars out of 5. Everything was perfect. We did a tailor made cycle tour with Merry Travel. From our communication with Sam, through to the actual tour with Zil and 'T', everything was brilliant. Sam listened to what we wanted to do, the sport of places we wanted to stay and organised everything from beginning to end. We didn't want to use tourist style chain hotels, and Sam found wonderful smaller locally run hotels. Perfect for us. Zil, our cycle guide and 'T', our driver couldn't have been better. All the places we stopped for lunch and snacks were just great. Just when we thought we couldn't cycle any further, 'T' appeared out of nowhere with fresh fruit, cold water and cold towels. Absolutely fabulous.Posted on nickyelliott09Verified Excellent cycling trip Thank you to Merry Travel for quickly putting together a cycling day tour of the countryside around Siem Reap for our family. Sam, Zil and Wah were fantastic. We felt safe at all times and the bicycles were excellent quality. We were able to sample local food, try basket weaving, enjoy the scenery and finished with delicious lunch prepared especially for our group.Posted on Jim YVerified An Incredible Experience! Working with Merry Travel is a must if you are traveling to Cambodia! The team, led by Sam, is filled with incredibly talented, kind, and passionate tour guides. They always looked out for our group, and safety was their top priority. They shared their great knowledge of Cambodia and Southeast Asia, answering any questions we had. They also made our time together extremely fun and an experience we will never forget. We are so grateful for this experience, and I could not recommend Merry Travel more!Posted on William EVerified Great time! Everyone working at Merry Travel was so inviting, excited to talk to us and really nice. On top of that, they were great at showing us around and teaching us all the interesting things but none of the boring things. I had a great time, learned a lot and made some great connections!
