Day 1: Phnom Penh City Tour

The capital city of Phnom Penh was once considered the loveliest city of Indochina. Despite its recent turbulent history, it still maintains considerable charm. A city tour acquaints us with some major sights of Phnom Penh. Visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and then the National Museum, which is dedicated exclusively to Khmer art and sculpture. The majority of the exhibits are from the Angkor period from 9th to 15th century, but some date from as early as the 4th century. The private quarters of the Royal Palace are now home to the royal family and are therefore very close to the public. At the northern area of the palace grounds is Silver Pagoda, the most sacred temple in the country.

Day 2: Phnom Penh modern history & Mekong River at dusk

The peaceful stretch of green fields of Cheung Ek may not indicate what kinds of horrors have taken place there. Situated 17km from Phnom Penh town, Cheung Ek was made famous by the movie “The Killing Fields”. Nowadays, a large memorial has been built to commemorate the 17,000 victims who died here under the reign of Khmer Rouge leader, Pol Pot. The remnants inside the memorial and the mass graves that dot the area remind you of the suffering of the victims. This journey into Cambodia’s past will provide you with a background on the cruelty of the Khmer Rouge regime. It will also give you an appreciation of the struggle that Cambodian people have faced and their tremendous courage to move on and rebuild their nation. Continue to visit the Russian market and end the trip with a visit of the Wat Phnom Temple, Phnom Penh’s namesake, from where you can enjoy views over the tree-lined avenues of Phnom Penh.

Enjoy a leisurely cruise with a private catered dinner by our well-known chef, the course is mainly to do with grilling and BBQ along with free flow of drinks (local beers, soft drinks, soda and a bottle of wine) while enjoying the sunset goes down taking in the sights along the river bank including many local Cambodian families and friends socialize. You’ll earn a rare, but great opportunity to see the floating villagers and fishermen’s activities. Cruise back to the port and transfer back to your hotel.

Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel in Phnom Penh is included
Service includes: English Speaking Guide, A/C vehicle, cold water/towel, and entrance fees.

Day 3: Koh Dach – Mekong Island Full Day Tour

Visit Koh Dach, an island in the Mekong located only short transfer away from the hurly-burley of Phnom Penh. Opt to cycle around the island which is home to luscious trees and fruit plantations. As you cycle, observe the daily activities of the local community. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the midst of wonderful scenery and connect more closely with rural Cambodian life. Continue cycling through villages and answer the many warm greetings from local children. Tea, fresh fruit and refreshments are served at a local traditional wooden house. The house owner has lived with his family on this island for over 40 years and is eager to share his life stories with you. He has devoted his life to the children of the island and is now director of the local school. Visit the local school and learn more about the education standards in Cambodia. Meet some of the local children (if your visit is on a weekday) and learn more about their ambitions in life. If silk is your interest, here is a home to a silk weaving, where you can see how the whole silk production process works from beginning to end, from mulberry-chomping silk worms in golden cocoons through to the complex manual loom weaving process. Return to Phnom Penh by your vehicle and back to your hotel. (Maximum of flexibly 10 km cycling).
