This afternoon, visit Tam Coc by boarding a tiny boat for a peaceful cruise up the river (Tam Coc was known as Ha Long Bay on land). Tam Coc is best explored by boat as there are a series of interlink caves and rowing through these natural marvels is quite a thrill.
The first visit is to Hang Ca cave, being enclosed by the scenic beauty of huge rocks standing along the river and scattered green rice fields, all combining an image of a poetic painting of the countryside. Only nature could produce such a miracle.
The quiet movements of the oars create a musical rhythm inside the cave as we approach Hang Mua (Cave of Dance), the beauty of this cave creates an effect that pulls one’s mind away from reality into a dream world. The rocks eaten by seawater over thousands of years have been carved into a series of caves here. Although the sea is far away from the locality, now the caves remain.
Only a hundred meters away is Hang Ba, which is the coolest of the caves due to its lower formation. The attraction here is the natural light inside the cave reflected by the water. The huge and even rocks lying in the stream provide excellent platforms for those who wish to bathe in the waters.
After our magical journey, we return to the village to rest and relax or sometimes for you to explore the handmade handicrafts of the village or head out on a leisurely cycle, exploring this township and admiring its mythical mountainous range.
Overnight at your hotel in NinhBinh
Day 4: NinhBinh – Ha Long Bay
Awakening to the most peaceful and pleasant sounds of nature, we devour a delicious breakfast, before we bid farewell to the village for our drive to Ha Long Bay.
After a 2-hour journey heading northeast, through local minority villages, we arrive in Ha Long Bay.
Ha Long Bay is by far one of the most enchanting and memorable experiences in Vietnam. The postcard pictures you so often see of Ha Long Bay will become a memory to last a lifetime.
Upon arrival, we board our boat and enjoy a spectacular seafood lunch as we sail off into Dragon Bay, gazing at the breathtaking karst formations within the bay.
After lunch has some free time to relax and admire the beauty of the Bay as we cruise through hundreds of formations.
Throughout our cruise today, you will have the opportunity to disembark the boat and explore Sung Sot cave, where you will learn how karsts were formed in this area millions of years ago.
For beach lovers and swimmers, we make a stop at one of the sandy beaches for swimming or just relaxing.
We continue cruising the bay until the late afternoon, before setting anchor for the night.
Once anchored, there’s plenty of time for swimming or just relaxing to admire the scenery before settling into another scrumptious meal.
After dinner, why not head to the top deck and enjoy a relaxing drink whilst admiring the peaceful ambiance and gazing at the millions of stars.
Overnight on boat
Day 5: Ha Long Bay– Ha Noi
This morning we take a small bamboo boat to visit Luon, a beautiful tunnel cave set within a lagoon.
We re-board our boat and continue cruising the bay, through the old part of Ha Long City, known as the fishing town and the newly built harbor bridge, whilst we enjoy our seafood brunch before heading back to the pier for our return to Hanoi.
On route, we make a stop at one of our favorite organizations in Vietnam. Hong Ngoc Humanities center in Sao Do Town. This wonderful establishment has been set up to provide skill and employment to people from small villages throughout the north of Vietnam, creating jobs and providing accommodation to disadvantaged people. You have the opportunity to purchase some exquisite local handicrafts and wares or just watch and admire the amazing and intricate workmanship involved in the production.
We return to Hanoi in the late afternoon, with time to relax or grab another bargain.

Cambodia is an amazing land to see by bike!!! Thank you for the good carePosted on MB100BxllsVerified Amazing self-guided bike tour in Cambodia! Just completed an amazing self-guided bespoke ebike tour with Merry Travel/Cambodia bikes. We are both 60 plus regular cyclists who normally travel ourselves, however with little planning time and this being our first visit to the region sought local guidance. So glad we did. The planning, which was initially done through Mr Biker Saigon, as we were doing similar tours in Vietnam, was seamless and provided for a more interesting tour than had we planned it ourselves. We provided a rough 'request list' and timings and they proposed routes incorporating several additional activities including trekking, kayaking and dolphin watching. Routes were provided on Bike with GPS and also a list of accommodation. All of which were in interesting places and local commmunity orientated, which we liked. The routes, which were generally on quiet and always interesting side roads and often gravel tracks - took us through amazing countryside, small villages and finally on a beautiful journey following the Mekong into Phnom Penh. We also had a vehicle which loosely followed us and our driver Makara - himself a cyclist - supported us with everything from transfers, bike maintenance when needed and interpretation. He also found us some nice coffee and food stops!! Overall a fantastic adventure. We loved the space and adventure afforded by self-guiding, but with the excellent backup support provided by Sam at Merry Travel and Makara throughout the journey. Thank-you!Posted on Joanne GVerified Best bike trip ever in Vietnam and Cambodia !!! we had a wonderful trip with Cambodia cycling tour ; Southern Vietnam and then to Siem Reap . A group of friends spent 10 days with Merry travel cycling in Vietnam and Cambodia. It was the best trip I have ever had. We cycled thru neighborhoods in the Mekong delta. Our guide expertly provided insight and info. He was a perfect cycling guide adding a rich cultural experience as well as great biking.Posted on TrevVerified 5 stars out of 5. Everything was perfect. We did a tailor made cycle tour with Merry Travel. From our communication with Sam, through to the actual tour with Zil and 'T', everything was brilliant. Sam listened to what we wanted to do, the sport of places we wanted to stay and organised everything from beginning to end. We didn't want to use tourist style chain hotels, and Sam found wonderful smaller locally run hotels. Perfect for us. Zil, our cycle guide and 'T', our driver couldn't have been better. All the places we stopped for lunch and snacks were just great. Just when we thought we couldn't cycle any further, 'T' appeared out of nowhere with fresh fruit, cold water and cold towels. Absolutely fabulous.Posted on nickyelliott09Verified Excellent cycling trip Thank you to Merry Travel for quickly putting together a cycling day tour of the countryside around Siem Reap for our family. Sam, Zil and Wah were fantastic. We felt safe at all times and the bicycles were excellent quality. We were able to sample local food, try basket weaving, enjoy the scenery and finished with delicious lunch prepared especially for our group.
