Upon arrival at Phnom Penh Airport, meet and transfer by the local guide to the hotel for check-in if the room is available before 2 pm or drop off the luggage at the lobby and set out to visit Wat Phnom, the center of Phnom Penh that gives the city its name, situated 27 meters above sea level as the highest point in the area; as the town grew around it, the settlement became known as Phnom Penh, the hill of Penh, and it is also the zero point of the city. Next, continue to visit Wat Unalom, a significant Buddhist monastery that serves as the headquarters for one of Cambodia’s most revered Buddhist patriarchs, which also features a post-Angkorean stupa. Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Following lunch, visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former high school prior to 1975, which was turned into the S-21 interrogation prison during the Khmer Rouge era and is now a museum dedicated to remembering the genocide; however, please note that this visit is not recommended for anyone who prefers not to learn about this tragic history. Alternatively, instead of the genocide museum, guests can enjoy a boat ride along the Mekong River to view the sunset. Afterward, return to the hotel for free leisure time.

Visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, two of the most striking buildings in the capital which are considered some of the finest examples of Khmer architecture; they were initially constructed in 1866 by the French. The Royal Palace is home to the current King Sihamoni, and the neighboring Silver Pagoda stands out with its distinctive feature of 5,329 solid silver tiles on the floor, giving the building its name. Continue to Central Market, where our guide will take you through the food hall and allow you to taste different snacks, drinks, foods, and fruits available in the market. A landmark building in the city, Psar Thmei (literally ‘New Market’), is often called the Central Market; its art deco design features a massive domed hall resembling a Babylonian ziggurat, and some claim it ranks among the 10 largest domes in the world. Afterward, return to the hotel for check-out and drive to Siem Reap (without guide), a journey of approximately 6 hours. At 5:00 am, our guide and driver will pick you up to drive to the main artificial lake of Srah Srang to watch the sunrise. Your guide will find the perfect spot for you to wait and witness the sun rising on the other side of the lake, creating a stunning and tranquil scene reflected in the wate. After sunrise, beat the crowds early at 7:00 am with a visit to the picturesque Ta Prohm, a temple nearly swallowed by the jungle, overgrown with roots that create an eerily haunting and exotic scene. The magnificent roots of ancient trees pushing between the massive stone blocks evoke feelings that may stay with you forever. Your breakfast box from the hotel will be arranged at a local cafe, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee before we continue to explore the intricately carved Khmer ruins at Angkor Wat, one of the world’s most impressive archaeological sites. The temple is renowned for its exquisite Apsara carvings and detailed Angkorian-era art. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, explore the mysterious Royal City of Angkor Thom. Highlights include the Bayon Temple, with its 54 towers and massive stone faces. At first glance, it appears as a shapeless mass of stone, but upon closer inspection, you’ll notice the serene faces gazing out with half-closed eyes, conveying a silent, enigmatic presence from a primitive and remote era. Next, visit the surrounding complex, including Baphuon Temple, Elephant Terraces, Lepper King Terrace, and the Royal Palace area, offering a deeper insight into the grandeur of Angkor’s ancient civilization. Return to the hotel in town at about 3.30 pm

Posted on nickyelliott09Verified Excellent cycling trip Thank you to Merry Travel for quickly putting together a cycling day tour of the countryside around Siem Reap for our family. Sam, Zil and Wah were fantastic. We felt safe at all times and the bicycles were excellent quality. We were able to sample local food, try basket weaving, enjoy the scenery and finished with delicious lunch prepared especially for our group.Posted on Jim YVerified An Incredible Experience! Working with Merry Travel is a must if you are traveling to Cambodia! The team, led by Sam, is filled with incredibly talented, kind, and passionate tour guides. They always looked out for our group, and safety was their top priority. They shared their great knowledge of Cambodia and Southeast Asia, answering any questions we had. They also made our time together extremely fun and an experience we will never forget. We are so grateful for this experience, and I could not recommend Merry Travel more!Posted on William EVerified Great time! Everyone working at Merry Travel was so inviting, excited to talk to us and really nice. On top of that, they were great at showing us around and teaching us all the interesting things but none of the boring things. I had a great time, learned a lot and made some great connections!Posted on Phiona NVerified The Best Biking Trip Ever (Cambodia and Vietnam)!!!!! The trip was amazing! We biked in Cambodia and Vietnam. They made sure we felt comfortable during the entire trip. We had a good pace, where we would take enough breaks and have a lot a snacks: fresh fruit, water, lemonade, and crackers. It was amazing to see all the temples in Cambodia on the biking trip! They also educated us a lot on the temples and the country's history. We saw the king's palace! We also biked in Vietnam. It was incredibly beautiful. The views, especially of the rice fields, were amazing to look at while biking. The whole trip was well-organized and thought out. I miss both countries every day. I would definitely recommend. They have an option for an electric bike, which was helpful on the longer bike days. The roads were mainly flat, so there was no difficulty in biking.Posted on Christina HVerified The Best Way To Explore Cambodia and Vietnam I had an amazing time traveling with Merry Travel and biking in Cambodia and Vietnam! It was my first time traveling to Asia, but also my first time biking over 10 miles every day. The experience was very well organized, and I felt safe when biking on busier roads. Our guides from Merry Travel would direct traffic and make sure no one was left behind. Additionally, they informed us when to change our bike gears if we were going up hills or other trickier inclines. Every few miles, there would be pit stops with a table of fruits, delicious snacks, lemonade, and water. I can't think of a better way to explore these beautiful countries!Posted on Cate HVerified Incredible trip - fun, fulfilling, organized, safe, and stress-free!! The trip was amazing! Merry Travel did an incredible job organizing all the logistics, so we were able to fully immerse ourselves in the beautiful countries without having to worry about anything. The crew was amazing - they were all super friendly and helpful, and always went out of their way to make sure you were having the best experience possible. There is so much value in being led by a group like this that understands the area so well; there were so many things I would never have been able to see, learn, or experience without them. Food and accommodations were all incredible, and I felt so safe the entire time. Cannot recommend highly enough!!Posted on Quinn MVerified Love Merry Travel!
