Day 1: Banlung (Ratanakiri) – Veunsai – Siem Pang National Park
Veunsai -Siem Pang National Park is located in northeastern Cambodia. It covers an area of over 50,000 hectares with a large area of vast evergreen forests. VSSPNP riches with many Endangered and Critically Endangered species including our Cambodian National Birds, the giant ibis, leopard cats, pangolins, lorises, langurs, and especially home to the largest population of the newly discovered gibbon species, the northern yellow-cheeked crested gibbons.
08.00 our guide and driver pick you up from your hotel in Banlung and transfer you by car for 50 minutes to Tom Poun tribal village (Kachon Village). Then we continue to ride the boat on the Seasan River upstream to Koh Peak Village which is the trekking point. Start trekking to a stunningly amazing forty meters high waterfall where you can invigorate your muscle and refresh your swim before enjoying lunch. Trek back to the boat and then ride to the Kachock ethnic village (Chinese and Laotian settlement) and a short trek to observe the sacred cemetery of Kachock indigenous people, each tomb has interesting wooden man and woman sculptures. Ride the boat again downstream to Siem Pang National Park office in Veunsai to register for the Gibbon watching and get a Gibbon guide. We are transferred by motorcycle to the station for dinner and overnight.
After dinner will go out for a safari night walk to look for seeing the nocturnal species. Go to bed around 9 pm as the following day is an early grumpy morning start!
Included for the day:
Trekking: 15km
Transportation: Transfer, boat ride
Tour guide: English-speaking guide
Meals: lunch, dinner
Accommodation: Community Camp Base Site – VSSPNP
Day 2: Siem Pang National Park – Gibbon Watching – O’Ka Sing Waterfall
Weak up early today to watch the Gibbon families, our team will arrange the picnic breakfast, and coffee for you at the site.
At 4:15, whilst it is still dark follow the guide to the gibbon habitat area about 45 minutes away to make sure we are there in time to hear their calls. We then reach the edge of the grassy savannah and wait for the call of a certain family, currently the only group that accepts people in their presence. The different families start to call(sing) at around sunrise with some calls carrying up to 2km. Once the habituated group of gibbons starts their calls, the gibbon guide will try to locate them in the forest as fast as possible and he will guide them up to the spot so we can watch them in their natural habitat as they go about their morning activities in the tree canopy. In some cases, they let you come very close-less than 15 meters-which provides an excellent opportunity to take pictures. This is a special time as the gibbons can travel quickly in the trees and leave in a split second, anytime they want. Once they do, it can be very difficult for us to find them again, however, the group can often be followed for a couple of hours throughout the forest.
After the Gibbon spotting, we return to the station for lunch and then continue trekking deeper into the jungle to Virakchey National Park zone, set the campsite for dinner, and overnight at the O’Ka Sing Waterfall.
Included for the day:
Trekking: 20km
Transportation: Transfer from Pu Tang Village to the hotel
Tour guide: English-speaking guide
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Accommodation: Hammock at a campsite in the jungle
Day 3: O’Ka Sing – Veunsai – Banlung (Ratanakiri)

Trekking: 15km
Transportation: Transfer back to Senmonrom

Kris M2023-03-09 This is the way to experience Cambodia! Merry Travel/ Sam is an excellent tour guide and the tour is perfectly curated . You get to experience Cambodia authentically and at the ground level- the awesome ancient temples, the horrifying but important political history and the resilient, friendly people and their present day life/livelihoods. I cannot recommend Merry Travel and Sam enough! Our trip was a 10 out of 10! Trek7907062023-03-05 Just the right level of support Sam seems to intuitively know when to explain and when to let us discover things for ourselves. The discovery of Angkor Wat--truly one of the great treasures of humanity--unfolded flawlessly in this way: unhurried, flowing, and awe-inspiring. Thanks to Sam and the Merry Travel team for an unforgettable experience! I have taken 5 groups of students and 2 groups of adults. In addition, I have recommended at least 3 other friends to work with him. If you want professionalism and fairness, Sam is the person for you. Merry Travel is an outstanding business and I cannot applaud it enough. We did 3 days of cycling in Angkor Wat, then went to Phnom Penh and then Kampot. Sam worked out all the transfers and we had excellent guides, including Sam himself. He knows what it takes to make the customer happy and he is very even-keeled in his approach.
