Birding Adventures at Changkran Roy

This three-day, two-night tour is perfect for bird enthusiasts and photographers alike, located just a 1.5-hour drive from Siem Reap. As of March 2023, we have confirmed sightings of rare species such as the Coral-billed Ground Cuckoo and Bar-bellied Pitta at our specially designed hide, supported by the Cambodian Bird Photography Group and the Changkran Roy Ecotourism Committee. After two years of development, this hide is now open to visitors, offering exciting opportunities to observe and photograph these elusive birds.

Day 1: Siem Reap to Changkran Roy

Early morning at 4:30 AM, transfer from Siem Reap to Changkran Roy for birding at our special hide, targeting species like the recently discovered Coral-billed Ground Cuckoo and the elusive Bar-bellied Pitta. Breakfast is served on-site, and after the morning session, we have lunch prepared by the local community, flexible for dietary needs. In the afternoon, birding continues in the hide and surrounding areas, with chances to see species such as Siamese Fireback, Blyth’s Paradise Flycatcher, and Siberian Blue Robin. The day concludes with dinner and rest.

Day 2: Birding at Changkran Roy

Early morning at 5:00 AM, start with coffee and head to the hide, bringing along snacks. At 10:00 AM, you can choose to return to the hide or explore more of Changkran Roy. Lunch is served at the community, and in the afternoon, birding continues at the hide to spot species like the Siamese Fireback, Blyth’s Paradise Flycatcher, Siberian Blue Robin, and others. The day ends with dinner and rest.

Day 3: From Changkran Roy to Siem Reap

Early at 5:00 AM, enjoy coffee and head to the hide with snacks. At 10:00 AM, choose to either return to the hide or explore more of Changkran Roy. After a Khmer lunch at the community, depart for Siem Reap, with optional birding stops en route. You’ll arrive at your hotel in Siem Reap around 4 or 5 PM.
